Who Can Help

Dear friends:

Thanks for your interest in our school. We are happy to answer your questions about the amazing environment TFA has to offer while also getting to know you and learning more about your child. We welcome inquiries and offer tours throughout the year. Please don't hesitate to complete this quick inquiry form to request a callback. We look forward to discussing how TFA could help your unique learner flourish!

Sincerely,

Tiffany Gregory

Lower School Director (grades 2-7 admissions)

Kelly Marshburn

Upper School Director (grades 8-12 admissions)

Eligibility

Diagnosis

Evaluation & Recommendation

Evaluation & Recommendation

Student applicants should possess a current diagnosis of Specified Learning Disability and/or ADHD (Inattentive, Hyperactive-Impulsive, or Combined). TFA does not specialize in serving students identified with autism spectrum disorder.

Evaluation & Recommendation

Evaluation & Recommendation

Evaluation & Recommendation

An up-to-date and complete psychological, psycho-educational, or neurological evaluation must be provided. We also require recommendation forms from two teachers (or 1 teacher and 1 school administrator) who know the student well.

Ability

Academic Need & Behavioral Fit

Academic Need & Behavioral Fit

A student's verbal and cognitive abilities should be in the average to above average range. At Fletcher, we do not specialize in serving low-verbal students or those identified with an intellectual disability. Additionally, students at our school must independently negotiate space and manage all bathroom / personal hygiene needs without assistance.

Academic Need & Behavioral Fit

Academic Need & Behavioral Fit

Academic Need & Behavioral Fit

A child's developmental history and professional recommendations must emphasize academic need - not emotional or behavioral need. We do not provide therapeutic services, and we do not support special behavioral accommodations. Individuals with school-related behavioral challenges are strongly discouraged from applying.

We invite you to visit both our Upper School campus in north Raleigh and Lower School campus in midtown Raleigh. Tuition & Affordability

Tuition

TFA strives to make tuition affordable for its families. Total out of pocket costs usually range between 20% to 100% of the full annual tuition rate, depending on the level of financial assistance for which one qualifies. Before taking assistance into account, TFA's full tuition rates for 2024-2025 are as follows:

  • 2nd through 5th grade: $21,924
  • 6th and 7th grade: $24,576
  • 8th through 12th grade: $25,176

Affordability

There are several ways to secure financial assistance. Opportunities include a payment plan option, education loan, state assistance and financial aid awarded by the school:

  • A variety of payment plan options are available, including a discounted full payment in August, two annual payments (August and January), or monthly payments (June – May).
  • Parents may apply for a low fixed-rate education loan from Your Tuition Solution.
  • Many of our students qualify for additional assistance from the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority via its Opportunity Scholarship, Disabilities Grant and Education Savings Account programs.
  • Families may also apply for a financial aid grant awarded directly from the Academy's financial aid budget. Application is an easy process. We consider an array of household factors, including income, debts outstanding, assets, depreciation, unusual expenses, number of dependents, etc. Due to this wide range of considerations, more than a third of our families qualify for an award. Parents may file an application through School and Student Services by clicking this link and creating an account. Please note the following financial aid guidelines:

  1. Families must submit a copy of their most recent Federal Income Tax Forms (1040) as well as copies of all W-2 and 1099 forms.
  2. Families struggling with unique hardship should submit a detailed letter to TFA's business office in addition to completing the online application.
  3. Divorced or separated parents should submit separate, independent financial aid applications.
  4. Because financial circumstances change, parents are asked to reapply for financial aid each additional year their child is enrolled.
  5. Financial aid application materials and grant award information is confidential and must remain so between each applicant and the school.
